GLOG Setting/Campaign Format: Draakdeure

I like GLOG. It's simple, malleable, and has wacky classes. Vayra outlined its general principles in this very good post. I also don't play a lot of GLOG. In fact, I wrote two GLOG classes without participating in a single session of GLOG. The only publically available GLOG campaigns seem to be run by people living in american timezones, which wouldn't be a problem if their gaming time didn't happen at my European 3am. I shared my thoughts with other gretchlings in GMT-adjacent timezones and together we came up with a framework that would hopefully let us finally get some GLOG in our lives - Draakdeure.

We wanted to make something that would allow multiple GMs to run weird and disconnected one-shots while retaining the same stable of PCs. Draakdeure fits the bill. It's a gargantuan city inhabited by most/all species imaginable (no one checked) sustained chiefly with treasure reclaimed from dungeons and similarly profitable places, accessed through the use of the titular dragon doors which usually open nearby accumulated wealth. The city is kept from being too interesting by the overgrown, overbearing, incredibly dull bureacracy controlling every single aspect of it, with every possible tasked assigned to one Ministry or another. The PCs are low-level agents of the Ministry of Foreign Levies and Acquisitions. The most exciting thing waiting for them back in the city is a night at the Obedient Citizen Inn and in closes at 10 anyway. Most of the credit goes to mtb-za who wrote this very well-written summary/introduction.

This framework allows for GM's to throw the PCs into whatever weird dungeon they've been working on and wanted to playtest. The players get to finally try out these weird classes they never got the chance to (the first session had a Gunpriest, a Holy Practitioner, a Petty Sellsword,, and a Monkey Dad, the last one played by me. Everyone had a blast), Everyone wins. GLOG is finally being played. The universe rights itself and goblinism prevails. If you've got a dungeon you'd like to see playtested, or you just want to run or play GLOG and never got the chance, the Ministry is always looking for more agents. Here's a link to the OSR discord server in case you're somehow still not there. (If you aren't, hi!)
